Established in 2005, with around 160 clients to its name, The Dorset Business Mentoring Programme (Dormen) offers tailored one-to-one mentoring support for small business across Poole, Bournemouth and Dorset. Supporting sole traders to medium sized companies, the scheme has supported around 800 businesses.
The DORMEN scheme enables help and support by focusing on your businesses priorities, reviewing business strategies and pursuing your plans with greater confidence.
Mentoring is the relationship between the two parties involved, the mentor and, the client. The mentor’s are professionals that have strong business backgrounds who offer their time voluntary. They will work together with the client in order to form clear concise goals that are achievable, using their expertise of recent developments in the business world and skills acquired through their programme of development.
Research has shown that businesses that have been mentored have a considerably longer survival rate and are most likely to grow, than businesses that are un-mentored.
The Dormen programme has had much input and development through a number of partnerships of local authorities, public sector agencies, private sector agencies, private sector institutions and High/Further Education establishments. Rest assured, by joining the Dormen scheme, the mentor’s will be able to provide a strong review of your operations and future plans.
If you a developing business and are interested in a Dormen mentor that can assist and support you, don’t hesitate to join now. You can request a mentor yourself, or, a business can be referred by a recognised business support body, such as Business Link or a bank.
